About Me

Our school is part of the "Leader in Me" program and through effective classroom management, I hope to instill a classroom climate where children can develop their leadership skills, pursue their goals and learn to succeed within the education system and in their life/career choices beyond school.  I believe the classroom/art room should be an environment where all students can learn with fair treatment to all.  I hope to help each student foster self-control and personal accountability.  At the core of proper behavior and conduct is the issue of respect. I want students to know that I care about each of them.

In accordance with Utah Effective Teacher Standards I will comply with federal and state education directives, act as a responsible role model for students, stay current with all Educator License requirements, keep good instructional records, maintain integrity and professional confidentiality, develop appropriate student-teacher relationships and perform my career with professional demeanor.

I received my BFA in Drawing and Painting from the University of Utah in 1985. For 29 years, I worked as a television graphic designer for KUTV. As early as 1999, I started to teach visual art to students grades K-10. I love the prospect of passing on a passion for art to a new generation. I am currently working on my Masters’s Degree in Education from Utah State University. My role as the Beverley Taylor Sorenson Visual Art Instructor is to come to school prepared to teach integrated art lesson plans tied to each Grade’s Core Curriculum.
