Principal's Message

My name is Deb Andrews and I am the Principal at Newman.  I have been at Newman for 3 years, two years as principal and one year as assistant principal.  Newman is an outstanding school!  Just ask our teachers and staff!  Some of them have been here 25 to 30 years.  Lots of our students have parents or even grandparents that attended Newman as children.  We have families that want to keep a tradition of attending Newman.

We always have lots of things going on at Newman.  We have family nights once every month with a different theme.  The theme for September was “Superhero Reading”.  Students and families enjoyed reading about superheroes, making their own superheroes, having their superhero pictures taken and many other fun activities.  The theme for October is “Magical Math”.  The entire family can come and enjoy games, activities, and treats.  You never know when Mrs. Grimshaw is going to bring her cotton-candy machine!  We just had our Walk-a-thon and raised funds for our PTA.  Students and teachers walked laps around our field and got a popsicle at the end.  They also got a Newman water bottle.

Our students and teachers are hard-working, dedicated and caring members of the community.  The teachers are always trying something new or getting better at something they have done for a long time.  The students are striving to learn more and more each day.  Our students have some of the highest test scores in our area.  We are all working to improve our school and to improve ourselves.  Our goal is to make sure that all of our students are ready to go on to middle school, high school and college!  We are COLLEGE BOUND!
