I am SO excited to be principal at Newman! There is no better place to be! It is beginning to look like a new school year! It is wonderful to be at Newman and watch the great things that are going on! Our building is spotless, teachers are getting things ready, and I am working on some fun and important things for this coming year! Of course, there will be a lot of learning taking place each day. I would like to remind students and parents of some important items:
Students, make sure that you are at school on time. The first bell rings at 8:05am.
Parents, I appreciate your efforts in getting your students here on time, every day. It is important for your child to begin the morning routine in class when instructions are given and details of the day are discussed and explained.
Students, make sure that you are getting enough rest and that you are prepared for school each day by having your parents sign your planner and any forms that need to be returned. Put your materials in your backpack at night. It makes the morning routine much easier and more pleasant!
Parents, please help support your child’s learning by helping them get enough rest and being prepared for their day as a Newman learner!
Students, make sure that you are ready to complete your homework! Keep up on your homework assignments and don’t get behind. It is important to start the school year right!
Parents, having a place and time that is specifically for set aside for homework really helps. It is also helpful to have a pencil, an eraser, crayons, and scratch paper that your child can only use when doing homework. Keep them in a Ziploc bag that comes out only during homework time. If you would like assistance in getting any of these items, please let us know. It is important for all of us to help support your student in learning!
I hope you will take the time to come and meet me at Back to School Night, Thursday, August 18th, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Our parent meeting will be from 5:00pm to 5:30pm and then we would like you to visit your student’s class and meet the teacher. I would like to thank the students and parents for your dedication to our school. I would also like to thank my staff who put in countless hours preparing their rooms, their curriculum, and all of the great things they have in store for students! Parents, your efforts to support the learning of your student are greatly appreciated. We can’t do it without you! Your help with homework, reading with your child, encouraging them to participate in activities, signing planners, volunteering, and many other ways you help make a huge difference! We believe that learning is a team effort! We are preparing our students to be leaders and for the challenges they will face as they grow, develop and move on. You are what makes Newman great!
We are looking forward to an exciting school year!
